This Little Piggy Went to Market

My lovely friends and I at Portobello Market!
Sometimes, we need to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and join the new hustle and bustle of the marketplace. I experienced two different marketplace settings, Borough Market and Portobello Market. Each was unique in its own way.
An entrance to Borough Market!
yum yum yum!
Our first stop was Borough Market. Located under railway lines, Borough Market welcomed us with a variety of smells, huge crowds, and mouthwatering selections of food. A huge array of people could be found here. Every type of food imaginable was located here at this spectacle.  There was a Greek food stand, German deli, cheese toasty booth, fruits and vegetables, meats, pastries; I could go on and on! The real question for me was what was I going to try first? The options were endless, but in the end I decided to go with a frankfurter with sauerkraut from the German deli. I also purchased a quid's worth of fresh cherries, and a meringue and macaroons for dessert. It’s a good thing we walk everywhere in this city!

A photographer's dream!
Look at this stuff!
Isn't it neat?
Open on Fridays and Saturdays, though Saturdays are the busier days of the two, Portobello Market was the next stop on the list. A mile long row packed with antiques, handmade art, entertainers and food was a lot more than what I imagined it to be like! There were many types of entertainers, but mainly musicians. They had their own flare that made them stand apart from the rest. I enjoyed every minute of listening to their works. I found treasures like antique cameras that had been restored into working order, knickknacks from the late 1800s and early 1900s, handmade vintage clothing and other crafts. The food scene was fun and lively. We could watch crepes being made right when we ordered them. We could drink coconut water from coconuts that were chopped before our eyes.

These marketplaces opened my eyes up to new worlds, and hopefully when my friends and I leave for Paris in a few days, we can find some more places like the Borough and Portobello Markets.
